When the date of the study day has been arranged email Julie Flowers, Administrative Assistant to the Bristol School of Anaesthesia (julie.flowers@ubht.nhs.uk) and she will put the date on the website.

At least one month before the date inform:

  1. The director of education (Fiona Donald – Fiona.Donald@nbt.nhs.uk).
  2. Secretary at BRI (Lynda Deacon - Lynda.Deacon@ubht.nhs.uk) She will distribute info to other anaesthetic departments.
  3. Trainee Representative (Charlotte Steeds - charlottesteeds@thomasdilaps.co.uk) She will distribute the information to trainees of:
    • The exact date of your study day
    • The title of your study day
    • A detailed programme, when available
    • Detail of the venue

If you invite outside speakers, then it is professional to pay at least their expenses. You should also consider offering an honorarium (i.e. offer to pay a fee), although hopefully most speakers will not accept. It is just part of a game and to some extent reflects the importance of the speaker.

Obviously, if the meeting is going to incur costs, then you will need to make plans to raise the funds. Drug reps are a good source of money, but you need to think about how they can advertise their product, and include this opportunity in the meeting.

Please send copies of any feedback (or a summary) as appropriate to the director of education after the event.

Hope this helps in future!
