About the School Training Programme Training Programme Years 1, 2, 3 and 4

The training programme in the first 4 years is necessarily rather rigid to ensure that all the necessary modules are undertaken as well as to allow greater flexibility in the final three years. The StR will spend two years in District General Hospitals then two in the Teaching Hospitals to cover sub specialty modules.

Trainees may be asked to start at any hospital on the rotation.  Details of the training opportunities available in each hospital are included in the details of each hospital.

All trainees undertake sufficient training in Intensive Care Medicine to count towards Intermediate training as defined by the Intensive Care Board.
