About the School
Training Programme
Training Programme Years 5, 6 and 7
During this time SpRs will further develop their clinical skills and will take on additional clinical responsibilities and supervision of more junior colleagues. Further experience will be offered in some or all of the anaesthetic sub-specialities. The organisation of modules is dependent on the trainees’ requirements and future career plans in anaesthesia and intensive care. In addition further experience will be offered in teaching, audit and management. It is possible that certain final year modules will be oversubscribed and they will therefore be allocated competitively. Advanced training in Intensive Care Medicine for one year is possible after successful competitive interview to satisfy the Intercollegiate Board.
In general the programme is more flexible for the more senior trainees to allow them to target their training towards their career aspirations.
Out of programme experience: to undertake further specialty training or research locally, nationally or abroad is supported. The final 6 months of training must be undertaken in the UK.
